Along with honoring this important heritage month, we’re fortunate to live in a diverse community where Sukkot is celebrated in mid-October, Diwali is celebrated at the end of October, and Dia de los Muertos is celebrated at the beginning November. Happy holidays to all who celebrate!
On the November 8th early release day, our kids will be exploring the topics of Identity and Belonging in an extended advisory session. Mark your calendar to ask your kids about what they learned about themselves, their classmates, and teachers.

Take a drive to Charlestown, Rhode Island for a delicious, authentic Indigenous meal at the Sly Fox Den Too. Wampanoag Owner/Chef Sherry Pocknett shares her culinary gift of “Indigenous, healthy beautiful, delicious, and nutritious dishes.” About 1:30 minutes from Newton and well worth the drive! While in Charlestown, check out the Frosty Drew Observatory & Science Center, The Fantastic Umbrella Factory, and the local beaches and parks.
November 2, 9, & 16, 6:30-7:15 pm: A Journey Through Black History in Newton. Join Historic Newton at the Durant-Kenrick House, 286 Waverly Avenue, for three Wednesday evenings to explore how “Black history has always been an integral part of Newton’s history.” Click Here to Register.
